The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) announced on Monday that its current strike will be prolonged for another 12 weeks.

Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, the president of ASUU, made the announcement in a statement.

This, according to Osodeke, is to allow the administration adequate time to handle all pending concerns satisfactorily.

On May 8, 2021, at 12:01 a.m., the roll-over strike will begin.

The decision was reached during the ASUU National Executive Council meeting, which began on Sunday night at the University of Abuja’s Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat.

At the meeting, ASUU accused the Federal Government of being unserious.

ASUU is demanding the release of revitalization funds for universities, renegotiation and implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement.
