Former President Goodluck Jonathan is still being considered as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus presidential candidate.
According to reports, the Fulani group, which received the APC’s N100 million presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for Jonathan on Thursday, claimed it will submit them on Friday.
Jonathan had already rejected the party’s nomination form, which had been obtained for him by a coalition of northern ranchers.

In a statement sent by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, the former president stated that he had no ties to the Fulani gang that purchased presidential forms in his name.
According to reports, the former president had joined the ruling party and was prepared to run for president if certain criteria were satisfied.
Jonathan’s staff announced that the former Nigerian leader has registered as a member of the ruling party in his Otuoke Ward in Bayelsa.
However, the state APC chairman, Dennis Otiotio, stated that Jonathan is not a member of the party and that he may only join if the party’s national chairman, Adamu Abdullahi, grants him a waiver.

In a separate interview, the chairman of the APC in Bayelsa State’s Ward 13, Ogbia Local Government Area, Igori Freeman, acknowledged that Jonathan is indeed a member of the governing party.
Jonathan quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and enrolled with the party in 2019, according to Freeman.
He said that the former governorship candidate joined the APC shortly after the state’s governorship election in 2019.
