Deborah Murder: Atiku Speaks Yet Again After Been Roasted By Nigerians

Former Vice President and presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has defended himself once more over the controversial conduct of deleting a tweet condemning the assassination of Deborah Samuel, a Sokoto College of Education student.

Atiku, speaking in Edo State on Friday, claimed his behavior, which has drawn significant condemnation from Nigerians, was motivated by the fact that the first announcement about the lady’s murder was issued without his approval.

The PDP leader stated that he is not scared to take a statement on important matters, but that such posts must first have his personal consent before being shared with the public.

Anaedoonline.ng reports Atiku made the clarification while speaking when he was hosted by Governor Godwin Obaseki during a consultative visit as part of efforts to secure the support of delegates from the state in emerging as the PDP flagbearer.

According to him, “Every tweet has to get my expressed approval but this one didn’t so I asked them to take it down.

“I took a stand about Sharia law and was abused, thrown stones at, but how long did it last? Despite that, I didn’t change my position on that. I am not afraid to take a stand on critical issues.“
