2023 Presidency: South West May Reach Consensus Soon – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo expressed hope on Friday that presidential aspirants from the All Progressives Congress in the South West will soon choose a regional consensus candidate.

Osinbajo, who has announced his desire to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, made the announcement ahead of the party’s presidential primary poll.

On Friday, the presidential candidate conveyed his thoughts to delegates of the party in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

Osinbajo is trying to win the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the party’s National Leader, Bola Tinubu, who is also from the region.

When asked about the divide generated by various stakeholders’ presidential ambitions in the South West, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo indicated that negotiations are continuing to find a consensus candidate.

He also noted that the subject of a consensus presidential candidate will be handled by Yoruba elders and leaders, and that consultations are continuing.

“I believe greatly in the wisdom of Yoruba elders and leaders, and conversations are constantly ongoing,” Osinbajo added.

“I am certain that we will settle our disagreements and achieve an agreement on a path ahead very soon.”
