Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has been referred to as the Jagaban of the main opposition party by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the former vice president announced this on Arise Television through Segun Sowunmi, the spokeswoman for his presidential campaign.

He claimed that Wike is a man of revolution and that the governor of Rivers State is forthright and tells it like it is.

Sowunmi said: “Wike is our own Jagaban; how do you explain a governor being able to keep other governors in line? One thing you can’t deny him is that he has the ability to say it as it is. He will not bend or colour things.

“Atiku holds Wike in high esteem, time and space may not bring them together, but he does. Wike is a man of revolution; he is one of the totems of PDP.”

According to rumors, Governor Wike is allegedly planning to defect from the opposition party after being passed over for the ticket for the vice president.

Many of Wike’s allies criticized Atiku for not contacting Wike when he chose Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate, despite Wike being recommended by numerous party committees.
