Kuje Prison Attack: Why ISWAP Terrorists Successfully Carried Out Attack

The daring assault on the Kuje Medium Correctional Center on Tuesday was claimed by terrorists from the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) yesterday.

Terrorists raided the facility on Tuesday night, according to an earlier report by Anaedoonline.ng, and at least 600 convicts were liberated.

According to another source, militants who were behind the Abuja-Kaduna train attack earlier this year freed 15 members of their gang.

ISWAP Claims Responsibility For Kuje Attack, Releases Video

The terrorist group showed several of its members shooting their way into the building in a video that was made public on Wednesday night.

It was learned that an elite team of integrated security forces typically guards the jail facility.
However, sources indicated that 24 hours before to the terrible incident, the majority of security staff had been redeployed and replaced.

A representative of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) told Newsmen that the attack was successful because the soldiers had just been sent to the prison complex.

The officer said, “I think why the attack was successful was because they just brought new military personnel, and they are yet to settle down. Also, our men didn’t quickly get the reinforcement needed to repel them; it was after they left that we started receiving help. “

Also, a security source told the publication that the standard security protocol dictates that the vicious commanders should not be kept together in a detention facility.

He added, “Such vicious terrorist commanders are not supposed to be kept together at a facility. They should have been kept in twos in different states to make it hard, if not impossible, for their compatriots to rescue all of them at a go.”
