Fans flocked to social media to celebrate the Super Falcons on their 1-0 victory over Cameroon, which qualified them for the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations as well as a berth in the next Women’s World Cup, according to ANAEDOONLINE Sports Extra.
On Thursday, a Rasheedat Ajibade goal in the 57th minute separated the two African rivals at Morocco’s Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The victory means the nine-time champions are now en route to the semi-final as they target their 10th title and will also be heading to Australia and New Zealand for the World Cup next year.
Immediately after their victory, some fans took to the Super Falcons’ official Twitter handle to hail the team.
Larkess wrote, “Congratulations Super Falcons. Job well done, World Cup ticket secured, it is time to bring the WAFCON trophy home.”

Looking forward to a rematch with South Africa, who defeated the Falcons in their opening game, Kalikouli tweeted, “We will win this WAFCON till God come. I hope we meet South Africa in the final because we have an outstanding business.”
Nigeria will now face hosts Morocco in the semi-final of the WAFCON as they hope to win the title for the 10th time.
