There are now specifics as to why Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike was noticeably absent from the PDP governorship rally in Osun State.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar for president, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State for vice president, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, and many others descended on Osun State to rally support for Senator Ademola Adeleke, who is running for governor under the party’s guidelines.
Wike, who has been at odds with the party’s leadership since since the presidential primaries, was absent, as were several of his allies, including Governors Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom, Ayo Fayose, and others.

According to a source, Wike may have missed the PDP’s big gathering because of his ongoing international travel.
The governor of Rivers State has not returned to the country, according to the source, after attending his son’s graduation in the United Kingdom (UK).
“You know that if Governor Wike is in Nigeria, everyone will know. But he is yet to return to the country after attending his son’s graduation ceremony in the UK last week,” the source said.
Also speaking on Wike’s absence, a former member of the House of Representatives, Ogbonna Nwuke, said Wike may have deliberately stayed away from the mega rally.

Nwuke said, “The truth is that you know that are issues in the PDP that have not been resolved. One can say clearly that Wike loves his party, but you don’t also expect him to be there when the coast is not clear.”
