Catholic Church Reacts As APC, Tinubu Invites Bishops To Kashim Shettima’s Official Unveiling

The attendance of certain bishops at Kashim Shettima’s ceremonial introduction as Bola Tinubu’s running partner for president, the All Progressives Congress, has drawn criticism from the Catholic Church.

In its response, the church labeled the bishops who were present at the unveiling on Wednesday as forgers.

The bishops are not their spokesmen, said Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku, the spokesman for the Catholic Church Headquarters in Abuja, in response to the situation.

Alumuku claims that the bishops’ behavior demonstrates that they are imposters and not legitimate members of the Catholic Church.

There had been claims that the clerics were hired to attend the event to dowse the controversy on the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party.

Alumuku while addressing newsmen on Wednesday said, “We have seen the photos circulating online, they are not Catholic bishops. The Catholic Church did not send any representation to the event held today by Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima.

“If you look at the manner the imposters dressed and conducted themselves, you will see they are not Catholic Church officials.”
