Buhari Reveals Instability In Libya Responsible For Terrorism In Nigeria

President Buhari has attributed Nigeria’s banditry and terrorism to the unrest in Libya.

According to Buhari, his administration is working to combat terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.

The new Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador James Kingston Christoff, and the Mexican Ambassador to Nigeria, Juan Alfred Miranda Oritz, presented him with letters of credence on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja.

The President also called on other nations to work with Nigeria to combat insecurity.

He acknowledged that his administration had made significant strides against insecurity.

Buhari claimed that friendly nations like Canada and Mexico helped make this effort possible.

“The political instability in Libya continues to fuel terrorism in the Sahel, West and Central African regions.

“Nigeria is not left out of the equation as we are fighting to rid our country of banditry, kidnapping, herder/farmer clashes and insurgency.

“We are, however, making meaningful progress with the support of friendly countries like yours to sustain this fight until we overcome these challenges,” he said.

In recent times, banditry has become more prevalent in Nigeria.

The issue has had the greatest impact on Northern Nigeria.
