Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lauds Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi Govts Over WAEC Performance

The three South-East States performed admirably in the recently revealed West African Examinations Council (WAEC) 2022 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, or SSCE, results, according to the apex Igbo sociocultural group Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

According to the data, Edo State led the nation with 92.8 percent of students passing the exams with five credits, including English and Mathematics. Enugu State was close behind in second place with 92.7 percent, followed by Anambra in third place with 92.2 percent, Benue State in fourth place with 91.5 percent, and Ebonyi in fifth place with 90.5 percent.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Enugu State received a score of 93.9 percent, followed by Edo (93.5 percent), Benue (91.7 percent), Ebonyi (91.3 percent), and Anambra (91.3 percent) in the ranking of the performance of public schools that submitted students for the exam.

In response, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, said in a statement on Monday that the development was a result of the governors of Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi States’ long-term commitment to investing in public education.

He said, “We the entire Igbo youths are very proud of the Governors of Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi States over their laudable performance in the 2022 WAEC examination.

“This is no doubt a reflection of massive investment in education. We are more thrilled with the first position of Enugu State in the area of public schools. This is a well-treasured performance and we commend Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for paying due attention to public schools.

“Governor Ugwuanyi is known to be a huge investor in the youths, which is the same thing he has done in the area of public education.

“We also laud the governments of Anambra and Ebonyi for their provision of quality education as reflected in the results.

“The youths are happy with the governors and urge them not to let their guards down, but to increase the tempo,” Okwu stated.
