LATEST: Buhari Govt Reacts As Medical Doctors Threaten Strike

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) gave the government a two-week deadline to comply with the association’s requests or face a strike. The Ministry of Health has responded.

At a news conference, Dr. Deborah Bitrus-Oghoghorie of the Department of Hospital Services stated that the difficulties raised by the doctors were financial problems that the ministry could not resolve on its own.

“The issue we have with the resident doctors are mainly financial issues and because of that we at the ministry of health can’t handle it alone.

“So, what we’re doing now is to facilitate resolving the issue with the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning and the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC),” she said.

She assured the doctors that the ministry was doing its best to ensure that the industrial action was averted.
