REVEALED: Why Falconets Slept On Bare Floors, Chairs At Istanbul Airport

Reports that the Falconets were stuck at the Istanbul airport in Turkey have been refuted by the general secretary of the Nigerian Football Federation, Mohammed Sanusi.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, pictures of the Falconets sleeping on bare floors and chairs circulated online earlier on Wednesday morning, igniting indignation.

Sanusi, however, claimed in an interview with Newsmen that the girls had missed their connecting aircraft from Nigeria to Istanbul, Turkey.

He went on to argue that the airline was at fault and that the reports were malicious and false.

The Falconets had finally boarded a flight to Abuja, Sanusi continued.

He said: “The Falconets were not stranded in Turkey; to say the girls were stranded is a mischievous statement. It’s the fault of the airline.

“By the time they arrived in Istanbul, the connecting Turkish Airline flight that was supposed to convey them from Turkey to Abuja had left and the Falconets had to wait for the next flight.”

The Falconets won every game during the group stage in Costa Rica, however they were eliminated from the competition after falling to The Netherlands 2-0 in the quarterfinals.
