The Academic Staff Union of Universities, or ASUU, has been asked for to be abolished by Nasir El-son Rufai’s Bashir.
ASUU should be replaced by instructors who are concerned about the wellbeing of pupils, according to Bashir, who termed the organization a “useless union.”
On Monday, he tweeted the remarks.
Bashir wrote: “ASUU is a very useless union.
JUST IN: Again, ASUU Extends Ongoing Strike Action
“They should be scrapped & replaced with educators that actually give a damn about students and how that translates to the future of this country.”
Following ASUU’s decision to extend its more than six-month strike, Bashir’s post was made.
On February 14, 2022, ASUU started a strike in protest of differences with the federal government.
The body had thrice prolonged the strike since February.
ASUU and the government have been at odds over the government’s claimed failure to uphold a 2009 agreement.

The method of compensating lecturers is another issue that the body has with the government.
While ASUU insists on being paid via its own self-developed UTAS, the government insists that the union be registered on the IPPIS system used by the civil service.
