In November 2020, Arthur Eze brought his two brothers before a Federal Capital Territory High Court, accusing them of stealing N1.5 billion from his company and using it for their own benefit.

Prince Olisa Eze and his family were forcibly removed from their home on Thursday in Abuja by billionaire and politician Arthur Eze of Nigeria. The police claimed to have an execution warrant, but they wouldn’t present it to Prince Olisa Eze or his wife.

In November 2020, Arthur brought his two brothers before a Federal Capital Territory High Court, accusing them of stealing N1.5 billion from his business and using it for their own benefit.

Reporters learned that Arthur disregarded the appeals procedures that had been served on him and went forward with evicting the family. He also intimidated them with armed officers who lay siege to the residence for several hours and rendered them homeless.

Despite an appeal pending before the appellate court seeking a stay of execution and the transmission of the record of appeal, Arthur was alleged to have worked secretly with senior police officers to carry out the execution of the ruling of Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gudu that was delivered on June 30, 2022.

Newsmen got court papers addressed to Deputy Chief Registrar Court of Appeal, Abuja, with suit number CA/ABJ/CV/915/2022 and titled “Record of Appeal (Civil)”.

It read, “I read to the above subject matter and hereby forward ten (10) Certified True Copies and 2 electronic diskettes in respect of the above-stated suit with the evidence of service of Records of Appeal on the parties.”

A “Motion on Notice” in another lawsuit with the case number FCT/HC/M5660/2022 asks the court to issue a stay of execution for the judgment of the high court of the Federal Capital Territory, located in Gudu, which was rendered by Justice Modupe R. Osho-Adebiyi on June 30, 2022.

Furthermore, it was learned that Arthur Eze personally oversaw the eviction. Arthur, according to reporters, arrived in a Mercedes Benz G-Class SUV and gave the police instructions on how to conduct the eviction.

At around 2:00 pm, armed police officers in seven Hilux vehicles assaulted the house at No. 5 Ifeanyi Ararume Street in Mabushi. They destroyed the main gate, removing everyone from the duplex along with their possessions.

When the armed police officers, commanded by one I. Abubakar, arrived at the house’s location, some thugs also broke down the door and drove the residents and their possessions out.

Olisa’s wife, Amarachi, pleaded with the police to exhibit restraint and refrain from inflicting harm on her children with firearms, but they refused, claiming that they were following a directive from above.
In response to her challenge, the cops assaulted her and threatened to toss her in their car.

While the police closed off all entrances and exits to the area, the operation, which lasted for almost three hours, drew many neighbors and bystanders.

News reporters also learned that some of the criminals the police brought in took jewelry and other items belonged to Olisa’s wife while the cops stood by and did nothing.

When Newsmen got on the site, they observed one of Olisa’s attorneys, Barr. Magaji, being physically assaulted by the police for allegedly filming the eviction with his cellphone.

The police ordered that he delete the films, which caused friction between the family members and the authorities. It needed some neighbors’ prompt intervention to put an end to the situation.

Olisa while speaking to Newsmen said, “The issue in question here is between me, Olisa Eze and my younger one, Onyeka Eze and our uncle Arthur Eze. This matter started on November 11, 2000.

“What happened today is regarding the possession of my property. They went for interim forfeiture without notifying us, when we got the hint of it, they said they got final forfeiture which we appealed.

“In the process of that appeal, we filed a motion for stay of execution and transmitted records to the Court of Appeal. So I wonder why they could come for an execution when the matter is still pending before the Court of Appeal.

“This is illegality and it will not stand the test of time. He has been claiming that they stole from him. Who stole from you? How did it happen and where is the record?

“It is obvious that the sick-looking evil man never wanted anybody from the immediate family to become somebody unless he dies. He questioned how could I have built a house in Abuja for that matter. He vowed that over his dead body that we shall become somebody.

On December 23, 2020, Olisa and his brother Onyeka were both charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with 14 and 17 counts of crimes, respectively, in front of Justice Binta Mohammed of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
