ASUU Strike: Apply For Scholarships Abroad – FG Asks Nigerian Students

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been on a protracted strike, thus the Federal Government has advised qualified Nigerians to apply for scholarships overseas through the National Universities Commission (NUC).

According to Anaedoonline.ng, public universities all over the nation have been shuttered for the past seven months due to unresolved conflicts between the government and teachers over several demands made by the lecturers.

While the strike continues, qualified students are urged to support a UK government program to study abroad in a letter written by Chris Maiyaki, the Deputy Executive Secretary, Administration of the NUC, and addressed to all vice chancellors.

Strike: ASUU Laments Large Exodus of Members From Nigeria

The letter stated that on August 2, 2022, and ending on November 1, 2022, the British High Commission published a call for applications for scholarships to study in the UK.

According to the letter, the scholarships are fully funded and available to anyone from any background who demonstrates the essential abilities and dedication to effect change.

Maiyaki encouraged the Vice-Chancellors to urgently see to it that the scholarship applications were widely disseminated throughout their various universities.

Only those who are interested in applying should do so through the official website.
