Anambra To Start Enforcing Tax Payments Tuesday

The Anambra State Government has announced that starting on Tuesday, it will aggressively enforce tax compliance in the state.

Sylvia Tochukwu-Ngige, the head of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service’s Taxpayer Education and Enlightenment Team, revealed this in a statement on Saturday.

The agency advised bus drivers, tricycle drivers, and riders of commercial motorcycles who were not yet enumerated in the state to do so and to pay the levies set forth by their union and the state government.

It also advised those yet to pay their taxes and levies to do so immediately, warning that defaulters would have themselves to blame, if they refused to comply.

The statement read in part, “The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service wishes to inform the citizens of Anambra State that from Tuesday next week, September 13, 2022, to be precise, there will be massive enforcement of tax compliance in Anambra State.

“Those yet to pay their taxes and levies to Anambra State Government are by this announcement advised to do so, immediately. Refusal to pay is against the law.”
