Nollywood actress Yul Edochie has praised Uju Anya, an American professor of Nigerian descent, for her remarks regarding the late Queen Elizabeth’s significant part in the 1960s Nigerian civil war, which resulted in the deaths of over three million Igbos.

As previously reported by Anaedoonline.ng, Anya faced harsh backlash after writing on Twitter that she wished the recently departed Queen Elizabeth of England severe suffering when she passed away.

She wrote: ‘‘I heard the chief monarch of a thieving genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating”.

Around the world, there were conflicting responses to Uju’s post. Jeff Bezos criticized her for making such an insensitive remark, while others complimented her for having the bravery to express herself.

However, Yul applauded the American Professor for speaking out for the Igbo people in response to a recent interview in which Prof. Uju gave an explanation for her words against the late Queen Elizabeth on a television station called 1hood.

Only the truth can set individuals free and guide them to a stage of healing, according to Yul, who stated this in a tweet sent on Sunday via his verified Twitter account.

He wrote; ”I listened to your interview on 1hood media channel on YouTube. And I just want to say thank you for speaking the truth, our truth. Thank you for speaking for our people. Only the truth can set us free. And set us on the part of recovery. Thank you Prof.@UjuAnya”
