Ayo Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti State, has urged the party’s irate members to put down their weapons and let peace rule.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the former PDP candidate for president made the plea while addressing party stakeholders in Ado, Ekiti.

In order to work together for the success of all the party candidates in the general elections of 2023, he asked party members in the South-West to uphold harmony and togetherness.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, a close ally of Fayose’s, and other governors have urged Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to resign as national chairman of the PDP right away. They have called for Ayu’s resignation so as to allow a southerner lead the party during the 2023 general election.

But in his remarks at the gathering on Monday, Fayose urged PDP members to work as a unit to support the party’s candidates for the National Assembly, State House of Assembly, and the presidency in the general elections of 2023, including Atiku Abubakar.

Fayose said, “Therefore, I am appealing to those who are angry to stop being angry. Those who are fighting should stop fighting. Let us face the 2023 elections together and win first. After that, we can resume the fight.

“A lot has been said, but as I have said many times, let me state it here expressly again that I will never join the All Progressives Congress for whatever reason.

“In all the issues we are having as a party, no one has said that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is not our presidential candidate. No one has said too that Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is not our party’s vice presidential candidate.

“Also, we have senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates here. Among them is my biological son, Joju and others who are my political sons and daughters. My interest is that all these candidates should win elections.”

Also speaking at the meeting, the PDP governorship candidate in the June 18 election, Bisi Kolawole thanked members for support during the poll.
