APC Campaign Council: Tinubu Will Restructure Paralysed LGs

Tolu Bankole, a member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, claims that if elected, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, will revitalise failing local government councils.

Bankole voiced worry that Nigeria needs a unifier and visionary like the former governor of Lagos State more than ever before to address the country’s various socioeconomic and security issues.

According to ANAEDOONLINE.NG, Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State, bemoaned the appalling condition of local governments in Nigeria on March 3 and claimed that their administration was in a coma.

Daniel said the poor status of the councils had put pressure on state governors, who, according to him, are “sweating and trying to satisfy the people”.

The ex-governor, who spoke in Abeokuta during the South-West Conference of the Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen, said until the third tier of the government was activated, dividends of democracy might not get to the people.

But Bankole, an APC Presidential Campaign Council member believed Tinubu holds the key to such revival.

The national leader of People with Disabilities in APC disclosed this in a statement made in Abuja on Wednesday.

Minister: Government Has Made Every Effort To End ASUU Strike

He said, “The future is brighter with Tinubu in the saddle as president. He will revamp the LGA administration, which in turn will lead to the rapid development of the entire local governments in the country.

“He will unlock the untapped possibilities across the country through financial autonomy of LGAs in Nigeria. I can assure you this will open up rural communities by providing adequate security, power and good roads for rural community development”

While stating that the move will put an end to rural-urban migration, improve agriculture, create more jobs and better economy for people at the grassroots, Bankole also called on political actors to be civil in their engagements while prioritizing issue-based campaigns centred on actionable plans, realistic timelines and pragmatic roadmaps to ensure a peaceful transition.
