On Thursday, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu removed the embargo on Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka’s adoration ministry.
Recall that after Mbaka’s remark about Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Calistus Onaga, forbade the Catholic faithful from attending the Ministry.
Mbaka had characterized Obi as a stingy man and said that he was unfit to serve as president of Nigeria during his midweek prayer exercises.
Enugu Diocese Has Prohibited Catholics From Participating In Mbaka’s Adoration Ministry
Following that, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu distanced itself from the statements.
The Diocese found that Canon 220 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law, which forbade anybody from improperly hurting a person’s good name, was violated by Mbaka’s attack on Obi.
In a letter to “All the Clery, Religious and Lay Faithful in the Catholic Diocese of Enugu,” Bishop Onaga forbade believers from participating in the Adoration Ministry.
The prohibition on Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka’s ministry has been lifted, he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Thursday.
The statement read, ”Dear Adorers, to the glory of God, Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria Amen, starts on Sunday 2nd October 2022 with 10 am Mass at the Adoration ground Umuchigbo Iji Nike Emene Enugu State.
“God bless you miraculously as you come to worship God with us, Rev Fr, Ejike Mbaka”
