One Million Man March: Obidients Shut Down Calabar

When various Labor Party supporters in the state took to the streets on Monday, August 3, 2022 for a rally, the city of Calabar was shut down for more than five hours.

Major Calabar roads and surrounding streets near to the eleven-eleven roundabout, a popular gathering place where important state events are frequently conducted, were crowded with partygoers.

As early as seven in the morning, they had gathered at the roundabout from which they had taken to the main thoroughfares.

Over four hours of snarled traffic in cars put a stop to both economic activity and the free flow of traffic.

Young LP supporters chanted, “Freedom has come finally” while the elderly ones said, “Our time is fading out. We are doing this for your sake. You had better wake and seize this chance and free yourself from the cabals and corrupt politicians…”

Speaking to reporters, Ogar Osim said they had estimated to have only 2-million people marching but the crowd far exceeded two million, five hundred thousand persons.

“You can see that Nigerians are very tired of other parties that bastardise our collective gains and channelled them into selfish paths.
