In preparation for the general elections in 2023, a special team left the nation on Tuesday for special prayers in Rome.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the team was led by Yakubu Pam, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), who told reporters yesterday that the participants will offer special prayers for the nation before the next elections.

Pam said the pilgrimage to Rome is the first one the NCPC has organized, and she confirmed that 121 individuals were traveling to the Italian capital.

He emphasized how unique it was because it was bilateral and not a typical pilgrimage to a holy place.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, a few State Governors and deputies, traditional leaders, and clergy are among the delegates, Anaedoonline.ng has learned.

Pam listed the delegation’s agenda, which included praying for the peaceful holding of the 2023 elections, discussing national issues, and addressing security difficulties.

He said: “We will pray for unity, we will pray for the vulnerable and less privileged. We will pray for the economic situation to be improved.

“We will be praying for the leaders of the country for God to touch them”.

The NCPC chief noted that while some pilgrims were self-supported, 40 were sponsored by the government.
Ignatius Kaigama, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja and the pilgrimage’s spiritual guide, offered his thoughts on the journey.

“We are going to pray for transformation, we will pray for the spirit of holiness and for our country to experience transformation”, Kaigama said.
