What You Must Do To Get Justice For Those Killed During EndSARS Protest – HURIWA To Youths

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu was encouraged to not win the election by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) in a statement released on Wednesday.

In an interview with reporters, the rights group’s national coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, said that Tinubu was one among those responsible for planning the Lekki massacre on October 20, 2020.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, a statewide demonstration was organized by young people in October 2020 who were unhappy with the way the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), which had been disbanded, had been operating.

On October 20, 2022, however, it is said that security personnel working for the Nigerian Army attacked the Lekki Toll Gate, where the demonstrators had gathered, and started shooting at them.

Despite the fact that the incident has not yet been officially acknowledged by the authorities, video footage indicates that numerous Nigerians were killed and that scores more suffered serious injuries.

Speaking on the massacre, Onwubiko issued a warning that the EndSARS protesters could never receive justice if Tinubu succeeds Buhari.

He said, “the youths are heroes. Nobody should have any regrets. They should not give up on the struggle for good governance. And as we move closer to elections, they should make sure that Tinubu does not smell the power.

“If somebody like Tinubu becomes Nigerian president, Lekki killings will be hidden forever”.
