Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has praised the Federal High Court’s verdict ordering the Federal Government to pay him N500 million in damages for his illegal kidnapping and treatment unfairly in Kenya.

According to an earlier report by Anaedoonline.ng, the IPOB leader was awarded N500 million in damages by the court after the Muhammadu Buhari administration violated his human rights.

Justice E. N. Anyadike, the sitting judge, ordered the Buhari administration to send Kanu back to Kenya, from whence he was extradited to Nigeria on June 19, 2021, in a ruling on Wednesday.

The judge also decided that Kanu’s extradition from Kenya without first going through the legal system was a gross violation of his fundamental human rights, and she ordered the government to cease the IPOB leader’s prosecution.

According to Justice Anyadike, the government was unable to refute the applicant’s assertions that he was detained, tortured, and shackled to the ground for eight days in Kenya prior to his extradition to Nigeria.

Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, told reporters in a conversation following the verdict that it had demonstrated that the court still represents the final resort for the average person.

Therefore, Ejimakor urged the federal government to abide by the judge’s ruling and send Kanu back to Kenya.
