Jandor 2023: Thousands Of Lagos4Lagos Movement Members Return To APC

On Thursday, almost 5,000 members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement rejoined the APC instead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) (APC).

This development severely hurts Olajide Adediran (Jandor), the PDP candidate for governor of Lagos State, in his bid to replace Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the 2023 elections.

Former Nigerian Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki welcomed the Lagos4Lagos movement, a division of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to the People’s Democratic Party in November 2021. (PDP).

Members of the Lagos4Lagos movement from the state’s 20 local governments were brought to the PDP by Olajide Adediran, better known by his stage name Jandor.

However, some of them have left the PDP and joined the APC again.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Lagos Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, welcomed the defectors and expressed his satisfaction at seeing those who had been misled retrace their steps.

He gave the defectors the APC flag and reassured them that they had made the right choice.

The Lagos Deputy Governor also asked the returning citizens to back Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s bid for the presidency in 2023.

“The state is moving in the right direction. This is the right decision. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has an eye of talent and the ability to manage people. This is the time for us to vote for someone who knows the way. It is good you retraced yourselves back. I must tell you that you have made the right decision.

“It is people who make towns, cities and countries great. I am excited that you have seen the reason to support Asiwaju.”

Cornelius Ojelabi, the chairman of the Lagos APC, also gave his voice and promised the residents of Lagos more benefits from democracy.

Idowu Daramola, the group’s head, explained why they had decided to leave the PDP for the APC, claiming that Jandor had not demonstrated that he knew what he was doing.

Daramola, who was disappointed, claimed that Jandor made the decision to select Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his running companion without consulting them.

According to him, Jandor has not been responsible for party finances in Lagos.

He said; “We were supporting Jandor because we believed he had a vision, but we found out it was not what we thought. What changed our mind again was Asiwaju’s presidential ticket. We have to move when Asiwaju got the presidential ticket of APC to support him.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone that is a Lagos resident, and the Yoruba nation, to support Tinubu. We have told everybody that we needed to go back because we discovered we were going in the wrong direction.”
