The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate, are aiming to retake the presidency they lost in 2015 in the 2023 presidential election.
PDP has started its campaign in an effort to defeat the opposition in 2023, hoping to garner Nigerians’ support.
However, some internal party problems may prevent the main opposition party from winning the upcoming general elections.
No Peace In PDP Unless Ayu Steps Down – Wike
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and his allies demanded Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, quit in order to bring about justice within the party.
The displeased Governors and other parties involved had denounced northern dominance in significant party positions.
Because of their complaints, the Governors withdrew from the PDP’s presidential campaign council and insisted that Ayu resign.
However, Atiku had maintained that Ayu could only quit freely or that the party rules be followed to make changes.
Governor Wike and his associates, according to a source from Wike’s camp who spoke with Newsmen, are not voting for Atiku.

According to the source, the irate governors and some PDP supporters will cast ballots for the candidate of their choice in the upcoming elections.
However, it was indicated that they would vote for their preferred candidates for governor and senator in the Senate and will support Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the general election.
