For his outstanding service to the Church and Society, the Laity Council of Nnewi Catholic Diocese has conferred an Award of Excellence on the Member representing Nnewi North in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor.
The lawmaker received the award during the celebration of Nnewi Diocesan Laity Council 20th Anniversary, which held yesterday, 29th October, 2022.
Receiving the award, Hon. Smart Okafor thanked the council for the recognition, assuring that the award will spur him to do more.

According to the lawmaker who is also the Candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) for Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, he said that he was not expecting the recognition because he believes that it is his duty to serve God both in the church and society, especially in showing love to the less privileged.
Appealing for the support of the council towards his House of Representative aspiration, he promised that if given the mandate, he won’t disappoint, noting that despite obvious challenges in the House of Assembly, he initiated and completed many life-changing projects and social programs in different communities in Nnewi.
