Ayo Adebanjo, the president of the Yoruba sociocultural group Afenifere, has refuted accusations that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, was upset by him.
Adebanjo was responding to allegations that he supported Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, due to a protracted dispute with Tinubu.
The head of Afenifere said he has not insulted the former governor of Lagos State in an interview that aired on Channels Television on Monday night, adding that Tinubu cannot claim otherwise.

The senior statesman insisted that the APC candidate should contact Tinubu and ask for his forgiveness for what he done in the past, alleging that Tinubu betrayed Afenifere years ago.
He said: “I want to correct you and stop talking about forgiving Bola Tinubu. It is Bola Tinubu who should ask me to forgive him for betraying the organisation. How can he say I have offended him when that’s not the basis on which he was elected”
Adebanjo added that rather than concentrating on who has been offended or not, the key concern for Afenifere at this time is especially with ensuring Obi’s success.
The elder statesman claims that Obi’s support is founded on justice principles because the South-East hasn’t produced a president since democracy was restored in 1999.
