Anambra: Unknown Gunmen Exchange Gunfire With Nigerian Military In Uli

Uli, a community in Anambra state’s Ihiala Local Government Area and home to the first campus of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), was the scene of a heavy gunfight yesterday, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

According to eyewitness accounts, unidentified armed individuals wielding automatic rifles who arrived in a Toyota Sienna van and motorcycles engaged security officers in a gunfight that lasted several hours in the university town.

The issue of insecurity in Uli and Ihiala local governments has become a major source of concern for everyone. The security situation in the local government area has resulted in a major flight of indigenous people and well-to-do residents from the town. It has equally affected the school community as students and lecturers are now living in fear, a situation which has affected the once school environ.

The identity of the armed guys was unknown at the time of submitting this report, and no casualties were reported.
