According to one of the reports, the three gunmen were part of a criminal group that recently assaulted a security patrol vehicle and killed five soldiers in Orumba.

“They were part of the criminal gang that has killed so many people and abducted many politicians in and around Orumba, Aguta, Umunze, Okoh and other places in the state.

“Today their charms failed them. We pray that their charms will continue to fail them in battle. We need peace. A lot of criminals (that) politicians used during elections in the past have acquired arms hiding under Biafra agitation to commit all kinds of atrocities.”

Although the Nigeria Police Force, Anambra command has not formally confirmed the occurrence, some top police officials have.

According to a police officer, the operation was carried out at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday by a joint police and military squad.
