Adeboye Condemns Devaluation Of Naira And Criticises FG’s Redesign

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has criticised the Federal Government’s choice to redesign the naira.

Adeboye made this statement on Friday night during the church’s November Holy Ghost Service, which had the theme “Let It Rain.”

The elderly man lamented the naira’s declining purchasing value in his sermon.

He wondered that the FG was planning to redesign the naira when people are hungry and He said, “Do you know what is going on in our country? It doesn’t make sense anymore. Our Naira now, it is not even worth the paper it is printed on.

“And while people are hungry, trying to find enough money to buy bread to eat, our bosses are thinking of making the Naira more beautiful.”

The Central Bank Of Nigeria late October announced plans to redesign the N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes.

The apex bank stated that the new notes will come into circulation on December 15, 2022, while existing Naira notes will remain legal tender until January 2023.
