PDP Crisis: Wike, Other Aggrieved Governors Makes New Demands

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis looks to be over after the party’s leadership reached an agreement with the PDP G5 governors.

Members of the PDP G5 Governors, led by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, have been at odds with Atiku after Wike failed to obtain the party’s presidential nomination.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State are the other members of the G5.

The G5 are also upset that Atiku rejected Wike as his running mate and are demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as party Chairman, ostensibly to limit the PDP’s influence in the North.

However, it appears that former military ruler of state General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) has ended the crisis that has rocked the main opposition party.

The G5 made new demands during the seemingly good talks.

According to a party official who chose anonymity, the G5 have promised to work for the party’s presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar, if their new conditions are met.

Their demands, according to to the reliable source, are: “That the top government offices should be shared among the six geo-political zones;
