INEC To Meet With Ganduje And Ortom Over 2023 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission will meet with governors, security agents, and several presidential hopefuls next Tuesday in preparation for the 2023 general elections.

In attendance will be the INEC Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye; Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje; his counterpart in Bauchi, Bala Mohammed; Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom; and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

Others include Action Alliance presidential candidate Hamza Al-Mustapha, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council Yabagi Sani, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, and other election stakeholders.

This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the organiser of the programme, Edwin Olofu.

Olofu, who is also the Managing Director of Platinum Post, stated that participants at the roundtable would debate how the country could achieve a credible and violent-free election next year.

The statement also said that Al-Mustapha would deliver a keynote address on the theme, ‘Contemporary Security Challenges & its Effects on 2023 Elections.’
