UPDATE: Dangote Plans Fresh 300,000 Jobs For Nigerians

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s leading businessman, believes that the new multibillion-naira investment in the sugar sub-sector will help create 300,000 employment in Nigeria.

According to a statement from the company’s Corporate Communication Department, Group President Aliko Dangote stated that the company was providing new capital and thereby increasing its operations in the sugar sub-sector.

Mr Dangote said the opportunities would include both direct and indirect jobs while speaking at the Flagg off Ceremony of the 2022/2023 Crushing Season and Outgrower Scheme Awards in Numan, Adamawa State.

Dangote, who is Africa’s top philanthropist, expressed optimism that the massive investment will create over 300,000 jobs for Nigerians.

He said, “We are making a massive investment in Adamawa State through expansion of DSR Numan’s sugar refining capacity from 3000tcd to 6000tcd, 9800tcd, and to 15,000tcd. DSR will be able to create about three hundred thousand jobs, direct and indirect, with positive multiplier effects on the economy nationwide.”

Outside of the government, the Dangote Group is Nigeria’s largest employer of labor.

In 2010, Dangote was appointed Chairman of the National Job Creation Committee to help the Federal Government in creating more job opportunities for Nigerians.

Dangote also declared that his company would double its investment on CSR programs in host communities in Adamawa State, where its 32,000-hectare integrated sugar complex is located.

Speaking at Numan, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, identified the Dangote Sugar Refinery as the largest contributor to the Federal Government’s sugar development endeavor.

The Minister also praised Mr Dangote for his kind contribution through his Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

Similarly, when completed next year, the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals would offer approximately 250,000 job possibilities.

Dangote Cement Plc is already one of Africa’s largest job creators in the manufacturing sector.
