Kaduna Labour Party Women Leader Killed By Gunmen, LP Reacts

The Kaduna State Labour Party has denounced the assassination of its state women’s leader, Mrs. Victoria Chimtex, by unidentified gunmen.

According to reports, the event occurred on Monday at the deceased’s residence in Kaura Local Government Area in southern Kaduna.

According to reports, the hoodlums also shot Chimtex’s spouse in the leg. He was immediately brought to an unnamed medical institution, where he is claimed to be undergoing treatment as of the time of this story.

The Labour Party in the southern Kaduna senatorial zone, in a statement issued in the capital by its publicity secretary, Edward Buju, and received by our correspondent on Tuesday, strongly condemned the violent and despicable death of the Women leader.

The statement read, “The Southern Kaduna, Zone 3, Labour Party family, the Chairman and excos of Kaura Local Government Area (LGA) LP condemns in very strong terms the brutal and cowardly assassination of our mother and sister, Mrs Victoria Chimtex, Woman Leader, Kaura LGA LP. The sad event took place this morning when some unknown gunmen broke into her family resident in Manchok, Kaura LGA and shot her severally.

“Her husband was brutality shot in the leg and he is currently in an undisclosed hospital. The killers did not take any valuables in the house, suggesting assassination as the only mission of the wicked actors.

“Mrs Chimtex was known for her ability to relate well with people, an endowment she used in bringing hundreds of resourceful new entrants into the Labour Party in Kaura LGA.

“She was known for her relentless campaign for the ‘OBIdient’ cause and she made a lot of converts.

“It saddens our hearts that such an industrious, hard working and dedicated women leader was killed when the family of Labour Party from the local government, zonal and the state needed her the most at this critical time that Nigerians are in quest for a new Nigeria through the Labour Party.”

It added, “The zonal leadership of the Labour Party in Zone 3, is bereaved at this moment. We are calling on all the members of Labour Party from each polling unit, ward, local government, zonal, state and the national levels to pray along with us at this critical time.

“Her killing will indeed remain sad in our hearts forever, but it shall not break our spirit or intimidate us from pursuing the election of the Labour Party into all elective offices in 2023, because we truly believe that a new Nigeria is possible under the leadership of Peter Obi as president of Nigeria.

“Mrs Chimtex was a dedicated and committed mother of six children and also adopted three children making her have nine children under her care. They do not have a mother now, with a father battling for his life.

“As we await her burial plans by the family, the zone 3 Labour Party will make itself available and render her support to the family of our slain member whose time was cut short.

“We deeply sympathise with the people of Kaura Local Government, Labour Party and the entire family she left behind.

“On behalf of our Labour Party presidential candidate, H.E Peter Obi, Our governorship candidate for Labour Party Kaduna State, Hon Jonathan Asake, the senatorial candidate for Labour Party zone 3, Engr Dr Mike Ayuba Auta, we call on the people of Kaura Local Government Labour Party faithfuls to be law abiding as vengeance is of the Lord. We must allow the law to take its cause.”
