N2.5m Bounty Placed On Attackers Of Ogun INEC Office

The Ogun State Police Command is offering N2.5 million to anyone with information regarding the hoodlums who burned down the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abeokuta South Local Government.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the INEC office at Iyana Mortuary in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, was set on fire by unidentified hoodlums.

Over 600,000 permanent voters’ cards, as well as voting cubicles, ballot boxes, and other items, were destroyed in the incident.

Lanre Bankole, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, has since directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to immediately begin an investigation in order to identify the arsonists responsible for the heinous act.

In an effort to bring the hoodlums to justice, “the Command has resolved to reward anybody with credible information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators with the sum of N2.5 million,” a statement by the Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, read.

In light of this, the Commissioner of Police requested that anyone with helpful information that could assist the command come forward.

Bankole stated that such information will be kept strictly secret.
