Umahi Confirmed By Supreme Court As APC Candidate For Ebonyi South

The Supreme Court of Nigeria recognised Dave Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State, as the All Progressive Congress, APC’s authentic candidate for the Ebonyi South Senatorial District election on Friday.

In a unanimous ruling, the five-member panel led by Justice Kudirat Ekekere-Ekun dismissed an appeal brought by Princess Ann Agom-Eze, an aggrieved senatorial hopeful.

The panel determined that the appeal lacked merit and should be dismissed.

Remember that Agom-Eze had petitioned the court to overturn the concurrent judgements of the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal in Abuja, both of which affirmed the outcome of the primary election that produced Governor Umahi.

The appellant, who was dissatisfied with the party’s decision to hold a new primary election, sought to court to get a restraining order.

Both the High Court and the appeal court dismissed the suit, ruling that there was no grounds to overturn the outcome of the second primary election.
