Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Northern Elders Forum’s (NEF) national director of publicity, has set a stipulation for supporting Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for president in 2023.
According to Baba-Ahmed, he would only back the Obi/Datti ticket if they were the strongest contenders in 2023.

According to Baba-Ahmed: “I can only root for Obi and my younger brother Datti if they are the best candidates.
“You know I’m working on a project with Northern Elders Forum, which gives all the candidates a level playing ground.”
Additionally, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that the insecurity could result in the disenfranchisement of many Nigerians.
He pointed out that the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, might be unable to deploy election-related supplies due to insecurity.

“There is a huge problem that must be tackled decisively. If you look at the South East, IPOB, unknown gunmen, whatever are targeting people and moving freely.
“People are being prevented from voting because some people are burning INEC facilities,” he added.
