JUST IN: Taraba Speaker Resigns

Prof. Joseph Albasu Kunini, the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, has resigned from his job for personal reasons.

His letter of resignation was delivered to the MPs on Wednesday, and the Deputy Speaker, Hammanadama Ibn-Abdullahi, who presided as Speaker pro tempore during the meeting, read it.

The parliamentarians overwhelmingly chose John Kizito Bonzena, the Chief Whip of the Assembly and representative of Zing State Constituency, to be the new speaker.
