I’m Ready For Peace Talks – Putin Tells Ukraine, Gives Conditions

According to the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin told Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey that he was open to talking with Ukraine if Kiev recognized Moscow’s occupied areas as Russian.

“Putin again confirmed Russia’s openness to serious dialogue on the condition of Kyiv authorities fulfilling the well-known and repeatedly voiced requirements of taking into account the new territorial realities,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

Erdogan’s office originally claimed that during his phone discussion with Putin, he had urged for peace negotiations.

Eastern and southern Ukraine are heavily occupied by Russian forces.

Despite not fully controlling the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions, the Kremlin asserts that it has done so.

“The Russian side emphasised the destructive role of Western states, pumping the Kyiv regime with weapons and military equipment, providing it with operational information and targets,” the statement added.

The leaders also talked on the UN’s historic grain deal with Turkey to unlock Ukrainian grain, which was to be put into effect.

The unblocking of Russian supply of food and fertilizer, as well as the necessity of “removing all restrictions to Russian exports,” were topics that were discussed, according to the Kremlin.

After a drone strike on its Black Sea Fleet in October, Russia briefly left the agreement.
