2023: Obasanjo Punished Me By Endorsing Peter Obi – Tinubu

Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) presidential candidate, has admitted that Olusegun Obasanjo punished him when he was governor of Lagos State.

According to Tinubu, the decision was made against the Lagos State Government and not as a punishment for him personally.

He asserted that Obasanjo decided against his administration because he belonged to the opposition.

The APC presidential candidate spoke at a rally in Benin City, Edo State, in response to Obasanjo’s support of Peter Obi, the nominee of the Labour Party (LP).

During his time as governor, he claimed that the prior president obstructed his efforts to address the problems with the delivery of energy.

Additionally, Tinubu charged that the Obasanjo government of misusing and stealing funds intended to address electricity-related problems.

According to Tinubu: “I brought Enron to solve electricity problem and help Lagos economy but Obasanjo and PDP frustrated it. They punished me and Lagos people and even began deducting our money.

“I created Local Governments in Lagos to accelerate development and create employment for our people but Obasanjo siezed our allocation and punished us for that.

“That was wickedness and such a man said he endorsed a man for you to vote as President. Can Obasanjo recommend a leader for anyone in Nigeria? A man who does not know the way cannot show the way.

“They punished me as Lagos State governor, not personal punish but the entire Lagos State was punished.”
