JAMB Adopts e-naira For UTME Registration Payments

The Central Bank of Nigeria and the Joint Admissions Administration Board have announced that the preferred payment method for the 2023 UTME registration is e-naira.
While speaking with the board and its financial partners, Rakiya Mohammed, the CBN Director of IT, Architecture, and Strategy, who was being represented by Abdul Shedrack, made this known.

She outlined how the introduction of the e-naira will stop candidate extortion and lower the total indirect cost of cash transactions on society as a whole while preventing leaks in board transactions.

ion of cash and facilitate the development of e-commerce, enable a reliable mechanism for issuance of bulk JAMB e-PINs, as well as support and promote the implementation of government policies.

Mohammed further allayed fears explaining that the e-naira is the digital version of the naira currency saying it had equal value and is backed by law. Adding that it would function as a safe and efficient alternative means of payment which is seamless and fortified against any form of abuse.

Candidates are therefore urged to download and install the eWallet from its website or via Google Play Store or Apple IOS Store.
