Senator Bola Tinubu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has pledged to extend the Eastern Corridor locomotive railways to Calabar, Anambra, and other districts of Eastern Nigeria.

In addition, Tinubu declared that he would reinvent coal mining and use because European nations continue to use coal as a source of energy and power, promising to establish industrial hubs in the southeast region of Nigeria.

In addition, he stated that if elected president of Nigeria in the election scheduled for February 25, he will promote agricultural operations and establish two seaports in Port Harcourt to speed up commercial growth in Nigeria’s Eastern regions.

Governors Dave Umahi of Ebonyi and Hope Uzodinma of Imo states were among the APC Chieftains present at the gathering. Other party members from the states were Senator Andy Ubah, Chief Gbazuagu Nweke Gbazuagu, and the APC Governorship contenders in the party’s south-eastern states.

Tinubu had previously paid visits to the traditional leaders of Enugu state who had gathered in the House of Chief in the state House of Assembly, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu at Chukwuemeke Odumegwu-mansion Ojukwu’s in Enugu, and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi at the state government house.

The event was the first time an opposition political party in the state was able to shut down the coal city, according to Dr. Josef Onoh, spokesman for the Tinubu campaign council in the south-east.

At the podium, Tinubu parodied former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, both of whom he accused of wasting Nigeria’s treasury and who are now arguing about who plundered the nation more than the other.

According to Tinubu: “We have to use what we have, we are still fighting for railway line across the country, to build our deep sea ports, to build our railway lines from Zungeru to Lagos, to Calabar, to Enugu; rail to evacuate our coals to fire our furnaces, to produce electricity and end estimated billing.

“We cannot just export yams and cassava only, we can become agro-processing center; we have 200 million people to feed and we’re not going to starve to death.

“Go and look at Lagos, it’s a state better than some countries. No Igbo man is troubled in Lagos, they have estates in Lagos, they make money there and bring to you down here. If you elect me as president, I will work with you. We can create industrial hub in Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Anambra and Abia states; deep sea ports, two in Port Harcourt. Enugu will become a industrial hub.”
