Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has voiced concern that Peter Obi’s presidency in 2023, if he wins the Labour Party nomination, will be characterized by tragedy.

In an interview with Arise TV on Monday, the former lawmaker claimed that the Labour Party lacked candidates to replace the open parliamentary seats, which may not be a good thing if the party wins the presidential election.

The relationship between the two branches of government may be harmed by Obi’s election as president without a majority in the National Assembly, according to Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State.

He said, “Don’t forget that in Nigeria, we run a presidential system of government. When you go to the ballot box on the day of elections, you are voting for a party.

“A party where from day 1, you don’t have candidates for the parliamentary seats, already there is a recipe for disaster because you know that the executive and the legislature are not going to have the majority”.
