The Presidential Campaign Council of the Labour Party (LP) has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) intends to subvert the rule of law and deny Nigerians the right to pick their next leader.

Recall that Tinubu declared during the APC presidential campaign in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Wednesday that there was a scheme to undermine the upcoming elections and torpedo his triumph with the persisting fuel issue and the redesign of the currency.

However, Bayo Onanuga, the APC PCC’s Director of Media and Publicity, refuted the notion that the ruling party’s candidate’s remark was directed at President Muhammadu Buhari’s rule.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu was just alerting the government’s attention to the sabotage being carried out by “certain fifth columnists in the system, presumably working in collusion with the PDP,” in a statement issued on Thursday.

In response, Yunusa Tanko, spokesman for the Presidential Campaign Council, stated that only the ruling party was preparing to sabotage the next election and the wishes of Nigerians.

Tanko described Onanuga’s comments as damage control, emphasizing that Nigerians have seen that the ruling party seeks to manipulate the system against the people’s will and undermine the rule of law.

He said, “This is an unbecoming position by this particular character. Remember that some of them (APC) also challenged the issue of the use of BVAS for accreditation.

“Of course, this is an attempt at damage control. This is something that has been consistent with them. Nigerians have seen their misdeeds.

“They have put it in practical terms and Nigerians have seen that they intend to manipulate the system against the people’s will and subvert the rule of law.”
