LATEST: Unknown Gunmen Kill Three Policemen In Enugu

Unknown gunmen are said to have slain three police officers at a border post along the Enugu/Abakaliki Expressway.

According to reports, Chris Anyanwu, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, confirmed the event to Channels TV on Sunday.

It was learned that the shooters attacked the checkpoint on Saturday night in two Sienna buses.

This platform knows that, while the state’s police PRO did not provide any information, another officer was hurt.

The officer, who was wounded in the leg, is claimed to be receiving treatment at an unnamed medical facility in Abakaliki, the state capital.

This is the latest in a string of attacks on police and other security agencies in the Southeast.

Remember that in December 2022, gunmen attacked a police checkpoint and a police officer in Abakaliki.

The militants were said to have assaulted the checkpoint on a motorbike on December 5, 2022, and opened fire on police officers, resulting in a shoot-out.

The Federal Government has blamed the deadly attacks in the region on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). However, the gang has consistently denied any involvement in the attacks.
