Suit Seeking Buhari’s Sack From Office Gets Court Ruling

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a petition to remove President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

According to news reports, Chief Ambrose Albert Owuru, a former presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) in the 2019 elections, had approached the court to challenge Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the previous election.

In his petition, Owuru asked the court to declare the presidential seat empty and to appoint him as the legitimate winner of the election.

Suit Seeking Buhari’s Removal From Office Set To Get Court Judgement On Monday

However, following hearings, Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo dismissed the complaint on Monday on three significant reasons.

Part of the arguments are that the suit was a blatant misuse of judicial procedure, was statute barred, and was an affront to the Supreme Court of Nigeria’s sovereignty.

The presiding judge ruled that the entire complaint was baseless, frivolous, annoying, and vexatious.
