A video showing a woman, presumed to be an Independent National Electoral Commission staff member, charging registered voters N1,000 to acquire their Permanent Voter’s Cards aroused fury on social media.

In the viral video, the woman, who was holding a bag containing PVCs, was seen charging one thousand naira, claiming it was the expense of a particular individual presumed to be an INEC officer bringing the cards to their supposed ward.

She was heard saying in Igbo that, “If you don’t want to pay, you can go to your local government headquarters. You will pay the transport fare.”

And another voice in the video said: “You can’t be collecting N1, 000 to give people their PVCs. This is very bad. You are on video, and I will market you. It is meant to be free.”

The unidentified woman carried her suitcase and exited the scene, denouncing the people who refused to pay. ‘God punish you, may you go insane,’ she said.

The location was not specified, however one of the demonstrators mentioned Njaba local government, which is located in Imo State.
