Deadline Day Transfer: Man United Move To Sign Eriksen’s Replacement

Manchester United are close to signing Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich to replace the injured Christian Eriksen.

Christian Eriksen will be out for up to four months after suffering a devastating injury during the weekend’s FA Cup triumph over Reading.

Andy Carroll of Reading was sent off for a heinous tackle on the Dane, whose injury leaves United with Fred, Casemiro, and Scott McTominay as midfield alternatives.

According to the Athletic, Erik ten Hag now wants Marcel Sabitzer to fill in for the Denmark international while he is out.

The midfielder has 68 Austrian caps and has played 45 times for Bayern since joining from RB Leipzig two years ago.

It’s unclear whether the conversations are about a permanent trade or an emergency loan, but ten Hag clearly believes he’s weak in midfield.
